ABOUT ME

I’m Leo Staar, and cameras and I go way back - since long before I was an actor. I graduated drama school in 2009 and have been knocking about on TV sets since but honestly, half the magic for me was always behind the lens. I’ve always been captivated by great portraiture. So yes, I’m that cliché: another actor doing headshots. After years of feeling at home on sets, I realised it wasn’t just the acting; it was being around cinematographers, cameras, beautiful light and the hum of creativity. These days, the joy I get from being behind a camera doesn’t necessarily supersede the joy I get from being in front of one, but it’s a different joy… and one I want to play a lot more with. Nobody likes having their picture taken (those that do, I don’t entirely trust…), but my hope is to soften that fear and make this a far more collaborative and enjoyable experience. And if you’re an actor or performer then trust me — I know what it’s like on both sides of the lens.
